USED COMMERCIAL VEHICLES – INSPECTION LIST

Look for:

  • Dents, scratches, rust (especially on frame/underbody)
  • Mismatched paint or repaint signs → possible accident history
  • Smooth doors/bonnet/tailgate operation
  • Headlights / Tail lights / Indicators — clear, bright, unbroken
  • Tires: deep tread, even wear, no cracks
  • Frame inspection: no bends, welds, or damage
  • Windows & mirrors: no chips; move smoothly

Inspect:

  • Oil/coolant leaks around the engine
  • Belts & hoses — no cracks, brittleness, or looseness
  • Listen for odd noises: ticking, knocking, rattling
  • Oil level + color (very dark = overdue service)
  • Battery: no corrosion, firm connections
  • Exhaust: no blue or black smoke

  • Test all lights: low/high beam, brakes, hazards, indicators
  • Covers must be clear, moisture-free
  • Horn, wipers, and dashboard switches should react instantly
  • Dashboard warning lights must turn off after starting
  • Watch for dim lights or weak starting — battery/alternator warning

  • Seats: no sagging, tears; smooth adjustments
  • A/C, heater, fan: responsive controls
  • Carpets & roof liner: clean, dry, no odors
  • Windows, locks, seatbelts: smooth functioning
  • Audio system + ports: check output & connectivity

  • Starts easily without struggle
  • Steering: steady, no pulling
  • Listen for clunks, grinding, or unusual noises
  • Brakes: smooth, no vibration or squeaks
  • Gear shifting: clean transitions; test reverse & parking

  • RC, insurance, and PUC must be original & updated
  • Service history: look for consistency and repairs
  • RC must match seller name
  • Verify permits, fitness certificate, and tax validity
  • Ownership transfer forms 29 & 30 filled correctly

  • Check for rust, cracks, or welded repairs
  • Axles & suspension: no leaks, dents, or heavy wear
  • Look for oil stains & damaged bushings

  • Engine oil
  • Coolant
  • Brake fluid
  • Transmission fluid
  • Power steering

Should be clean, full, and free from cloudiness or grit

A thorough inspection = money saved + trouble avoided.
